Linda Kreger Silverman, Ph.D.
Linda is a licensed psychologist who has been studying learning differences for over 40 years.
She is a noted author, researcher and popular international speaker. Her Ph.D. is in special education
from the University of Southern California. For nine years, she served on the faculty of the University
of Denver in counseling psychology and special education. In 1979, Linda founded the Gifted
Development Center, where more than 4,500 children have been assessed. In 1981, Linda coined
the term “visual-spatial learner” and has been developing techniques, creating identification methods and
improving teaching strategies for this population for 25 years. This information can be found in
Upside-Down Brilliance: The Visual-Spatial Learner (Denver: DeLeon, 2002). She has spoken all over
the world on this topic, including Australia, Canada, England, Ireland, Hong Kong, New Zealand and
Singapore. A special seminar was held on visual-spatial learners at Green College, Oxford University,
in 2000. Linda has written over 300 articles, chapters and books related to gifted, learning disabled and
other learners, including Counseling the Gifted & Talented (Love: 1993).

| Alexandra "Allie" Golon
Allie is Director of the Visual-Spatial Resource and Marketing Director for the Institute for the Study
of Advanced Development and its subsidiary, the Gifted Development Center. As a founding member
of the Visual-Spatial Resource Access Team, a former G/T teacher and homeschooling parent to
two exceptionally gifted visual-spatial learners, Allie brings a wealth of experience to her book,
Raising Topsy-Turvy Kids: Successfully Parenting Your Visual-Spatial Child. Her next book,
If You Could See the Way I Think: A Handbook for Visual-Spatial Kids, has just been released.
Allie has been invited to present on parenting and teaching strategies for visual-spatial learners at state,
national and international venues, including Canada, Australia and New Zealand.. She has appeared on

Steve C. Haas, M.A., MPA Steve joined the Visual-Spatial Learner Project in its infancy in 1992 and has served for the last six
years as its Project Director. Working with a large and diverse group of professionals, he managed
the development and validation of the Visual-Spatial Identifier, which teachers, counselors, parents,
and students themselves can use to identify visual-spatial learners. Steve has presented on teaching

Penny Choice, M.A. M. Ed. Penny has a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Drama, a M.Ed. in Gifted Education and an M.A. in
Educational Administration. Penny’s areas of expertise include curriculum development, staff development,
gifted education, social science, problem-based learning, and fine arts education with a focus in integrating
the arts and the use of process drama, a classroom instructional tool. Dynamic and outgoing, Penny
exemplifies her areas of expertise as she presents essential information to participants. She is available to

She is a licensed Marriage, Family and Child Therapist in private practice since 1996, specializing in
gifted children and adults and visual-spatial learners of all ages. A member of the Visual-Spatial Resource
Access Team, Linda provides teacher in-services, parent workshops, email and phone consultation,
guidance in school selection, observation and mediation, and support for visual-spatial learners and
their families. Linda Leviton and Linda Silverman have worked together since 1974. They co-authored
"In Search of the Perfect Program," which serves as a basis for helping parents find appropriate
